Former UPS SVP Perry Chao to Lead Dorabot Hong Kong

Date: 07-10-2018

Dorabot, a market-leading AI and robotics company developing solutions for logistics and e-commerce, announced today the establishment of a Hong Kong branch led by former UPS senior vice president Perry Chao. This newly established branch will focus on sales and business development in East Asia.

"Perry has extensive experience and a great reputation in the logistics industry," says Dorabot CEO Spencer Deng. "His joining will help us lay out our market strategy in Asia and enhance our cooperation with major logistics and aviation partners."

During his 21 years at UPS, Perry headed Asia Pacific operations and established the UPS International Air Hub at Pudong Airport in Shanghai. The Shanghai Hub was instrumental in integrating US and China operations, resulting in significant expansion in both countries.

Perry also led efforts to acquire joint ventures from the state-owned company Sinotrans, giving UPS full control of international express operations in 23 mainland Chinese municipalities. UPS was the first multinational company in Hong Kong to wholly purchase mainland joint ventures under the CEPA free trade agreement.

In his hometown of Hong Kong, Perry was founding member of the Hong Kong Logistics Council and helped set up logistics operations at the Hong Kong International Airport. Upon its opening in 1998, the airport's express and cargo system wasn't ready yet, but Perry negotiated an unprecedented deal to move goods through Taiwan and ensure continuous operation.

"My experience has shown me the many challenges in the world of logistics, warehouses, and supply chain management," says Perry. "I look forward to connecting Dorabot to the world of logistics, postal services, and advanced e-commerce players in Asia."

Joining along with Perry are Raymond Tang and Katrina Lee. Like Perry, Raymond has two decades of experience in logistics, but with a focus on finance. Raymond developed international cost models and billings systems at UPS and led the company's procurement efforts in the Asia Pacific region.

Katrina brings to Dorabot 15 years of experience in freight forwarding and sales at Excel Air Ltd. During her time at Excel, Katrina grew the organization from scratch to handling customer service, sales, and operations for 18 different airlines.
