Adam Tow Starts His Adventure at Dorabot

Date: 11-13-2017

Adam Tow is the newest member of Dorabot! Adam joins us from the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision (ACRV) at the Queensland University of Technology, where he worked on a Ph.D. His research focused on how robots can learn to pick up and place objects in unstructured environments using computer vision.

The topic of his research was largely inspired by his participation in the 2016 Amazon Picking Challenge (APC). Of 16 teams selected around the world, ACRV's team placed 6th in the Picking Challenge using the Baxter robot platform. With the experience he gained, Adam co-led Team ACRV in the 2017 Amazon Robotics Challenge, where they placed first out of the 16 participating teams.

Adam's goal is to work on what he's passionate about. "With Dorabot, I will work at what I enjoy and have fun," says Adam. Adam chose to come to China to experience life in Shenzhen, the country's internationally renowned high-tech hub.
